Frequently asked

How does Homefront work?

It's one simple loop. Log a moment whenever something happens — by voice or by typing — and your moments gather on the Home screen. When you have a few, tap Compose and Homefront weaves them into one warm letter, in your own voice, ready to send. There's no schedule or calendar to keep up with.

Where is everything — Home, Log, Letters, Compose, and Settings?

Home shows your saved moments and a count since your last letter. Log (the mic button) is how you add a moment, anytime. Compose opens right from your Home screen once you've logged something, and turns your moments into a letter to edit and send. Letters is your history of letters you've sent. Settings lives behind your initials in the top corner — your recipient, greeting and sign-off, reminders, appearance, and your writing voice.

Can Homefront write in my own voice?

Yes. In Settings → Your writing voice, paste or upload a few things you've written (past letters, an email, a Word or PDF document). Homefront analyzes your style once and uses it so your letters read like you actually wrote them. Your samples are analyzed a single time and not stored — only a short summary of your style is kept, and you can clear it anytime.

Do I need an account?

No. You can use Homefront without an account — everything stays on your device. Signing in just lets your journal and letters sync across your devices.

Are my journal entries safe?

Yes. When you're signed in, every entry you write is saved to your account and synced across your devices, and opening the app on another device never overwrites or erases entries you've already saved. If you're not signed in, your entries live on the single device you wrote them on, so signing in is the best way to keep them safe.

Why does the microphone turn on?

Only when you tap the mic to record a journal entry. Your audio is sent to be turned into text and isn't kept afterward. You can always type instead.

I recorded but nothing came out — what happened?

Almost always this means your phone or computer was listening through the wrong microphone. If AirPods or another headset are connected, they often take over as the mic, and if they're in a case or not in your ears they pick up no sound — so the recording is silent and there are no words to transcribe. Homefront will now tell you when it heard silence and name the device it's set to. Switch your microphone (or take your AirPods out) and tap the mic to try again, or type your entry instead.

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Open Settings and tap your Homefront Pro card — it takes you straight to where your plan is managed. On iPhone that's your Apple ID subscriptions (you can also reach it in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions); on the web it's your billing portal. You can cancel there anytime and keep Pro until the period you've paid for ends.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → Delete account & all data removes your account and every entry and letter. This can't be undone.
